Love and Hatred in A Rose for Emily

In A Rose for Emily, love does not appear directly in the story. That is, there are no actual scenes where Emily and Homer Barron fall in love; the readers have to conjecture it from the story. Whether it was only Emily that was in love or is up to the readers to decide. Here I will offer my perspective of what I conveiced from the story.
Not being able to express her feelings in an open manner because of her status and her father's oppression, Emily learns to show her emotions in a wicked way. She clings to her father's body, as she does with Homer Barron's body later in the story.
Emily's emotions are a mixture of love and hatred. She loves her father, but she hates him for oppressing him and driving away all the men. This could be why Emily falls in love with Homer Barron, a man her father would never have approved of. She loves Homer Barron, but she hates him for not returning her love.
